Cloning

This document outlines the steps necessary to clone content on the TechChange platform.

Additional setup is required to clone content between organizations. Please reach out to us at techsupport [at] techchange.org to request cross-organization cloning.

Clone a Course

Course cloning will copy all course information including the catalog listing page, course badge, enrollment strategy, application form, and more.

Steps

  1. Go to your organization admin section. Choose "Courses" then "+ Add Course".
  2. Make sure you’ve filled out the course title and slug (it can be exactly the same as the course you're cloning from)
  3. You will see the option to "Clone Content"
  4. Choose the course you’d like to clone and click “Create Course”.
  5. Add Application Notification Recipients as needed
  6. Once completed, you can add a session to the course.

Clone a Session

You’ll generally want to clone a session after cloning a course. It’s possible to clone multiple sessions, but you’ll have to clone them one-by-one.

Steps

  1. Go to your organization admin section. Choose "Courses" and then the relevant course from the list. Then choose "+ Add Session".
  2. Make sure you’ve filled out the session title and slug (the title and slug must be different than the session you're cloning from, unless you're cloning between organizations)
  3. You will see a section titled "Cloning Content". Choose the session you'd like to clone.
  4. Choose "Create session" to complete the process.
  5. Once complete, you will be redirected back to the session listing page where you can enroll relevant people into the newly cloned session.

It may take up to 30 seconds or more to clone sessions. If this is the case, the request may timeout and display an error. However, this error may just indicate the timeout, but the session may have cloned successfully. Go back to the session enrollments page and verify that you have an enrollment. If so, click on the "session slug" to ensure that the session was cloned successfully.
